The Ute Meadows Difference

Thinking Maps

80% of the information that the brain processes is visual. Thinking Maps provide students with the tools to visually process and organize information. Ute Meadows students begin learning the eight different Thinking Maps starting in preschool.

Restorative Practices

Restorative practices represent a positive step forward in helping all students learn to resolve disagreements, take ownership of their behavior, and engage in acts of empathy and forgiveness. There are many ways to implement restorative practices in the classroom.

Healthy Schools

The mission of a healthy school is to support culture, policy, and environments that promote healthy lifestyle choices, life skills and attitudes, benefiting staff, students and their families. At Ute Meadows Elementary, all students are guaranteed at least two recess/movement breaks every day. Research shows physical activity at school is a win-win for students and teachers with increased focus that leads to better grades in math and English, as well as reduced behavior management.

Outdoor Classroom

In 2018, our Ute Meadows Elementary PTA teamed to create an outdoor learning space that would offer fresh air, mask breaks and more opportunity for social distancing in addition to increasing students' social, emotional, and mental well-being.

Ute Meadows supports the development of the whole child, and research shows that there is little benefit from homework in young children. Therefore, at Ute Meadows there is a no homework policy.
